Equalization and Precoding in Multi-User MIMO Relaying Systems and Their Diversity Bottleneck
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, equalization and precoding in multiuser multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) relaying systems are considered. In particular, the user devices are connected to relays or small base stations which only cover small areas, socalled small cells. Via wireless backhaul, the relays are in turn connected to a central base station, forming a two-hop multiuser relaying system. It is shown how a naive realization of these relaying systems provokes a diversity bottleneck in the small cells, degrading the overall system performance. A strategy to prevent this bottleneck is proposed in combination with an antenna selection strategy for backhaul communication. Results obtained from numerical simulations are provided to complement the theoretical considerations. To this end, lattice-reduction-aided schemes are used to enable a full-diversity channel equalization.

Single-Carrier Frequency-Domain Equalization for Orthogonal STBC over Frequency-Selective MIMO-PLC channels
In this paper we propose a new space diversity scheme for broadband PLC systems using orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) transmission combined with single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). To apply this diversity technique to PLC channels, we first propose a new technique for combining SC-FDE with OSTBCs applicable to all dispersive multipath channels impaired by impulsive...

Nonlinear precoding improves the downlink bit error rate (BER) performance of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MUMIMO). Broadband single-carrier (SC) block transmission can improve the capability that nonlinear precoding reduces BER, as it provides frequency diversity gain. This paper considers Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP) as a nonlinear precoding scheme for SC-MU-MIMO downlink...

Lattice-reduction-aided preequalization or precoding are powerful techniques for handling the interference on the multi-user MIMO broadcast channel as the channel’s diversity order can be achieved. However, recent advantages in the closely related field of integer-forcing equalization raise the question, if the unimodularity constraint on the integer equalization matrix in LRA schemes is really...

Space division multiple access (SDMA) promises high gains in the system throughput of wireless multiple antenna systems. If SDMA is used on the downlink of a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, either long-term or shortterm channel state information has to be available at the base station (BS) to facilitate the joint precoding of the signals intended for the different users...
